6. Driving & Comfort
Driving & Comfort Assessment
City Driving
The automatic transmission makes stop-and-go traffic easy to manage. Good ground clearance for everyday Indian road conditions.
Highway Performance
The 141 bhp engine is sufficient for highway cruising but needs planning for quick overtakes. Turbo power kicks in nicely at mid-range, making highway merges confident.
Ride & Comfort
Torsion beam rear suspension handles most road imperfections adequately. Cabin noise is well-controlled at city speeds; some wind noise creeps in on highways. Generous 587L boot space makes it practical for long trips.
7. Community Sentiment
Community verdict for MG Hector: Sentiment is overwhelmingly positive. Owners frequently praise value for money, but express concern about concern.
Recent Owner Reviews
14 reviews"One of the most reliable Car in my collection: This would be the most reliable car in my collection in the top three of my 15-car collection. I would rate this car 4.8/5 stars. The performance is very great. The features it introduced in 2019 were beyond people's imagination, and that is when I bought this car. I had some clutch issues but other than that. It was all good. It performs very well. it’s fast. It’s comfortable, if you’re looking for a Performance, go for 2.0 Hector. I am currently on 2.0 Hector sharp and still performs great after 7 years. But mine is special, it produces 200 hp to the wheels named black Mamba @theteamtorquerage @arbaazzx on Instagram"
"Hector: Service network is very limited. If you're outside a metro city, finding an authorized service center is challenging."
"Hector: Resale value is a major concern. MG vehicles depreciate faster than most competitors in the Indian market."
"Icon: This car is really value for money. When it's driven, it holds the road and drive sooth .it's a classic brand new one but trust worthy. The features are adorable, and the interior of this car is classic. The quality of plastic is really hard.if it's maintained properly u can relate to this car for years it drive really smoothly, and u can't hear the engine noise while driving fast."
"Rich look Rich feel: I am already MG Hector user since 2019, and now I have again purchased a new MG Hector auto. Excellent look and road presence, especially with new celadon blue! Light grey interior in 5 seater gives an upscale luxury feel. Keyless entry and exit, connected large tab, panoramic sunroof, touch button for tail gate opening and closure - all add to the luxury of this car. New 2 and 3-finger gesture functions are excellent. No start without a seatbelt, hard reverse drive, ADAS and 6 airbags gives excellent safety. Except for 1st gear, you cannot feel any of the 8 gears in an automatic car. Driving comfort and feel are awesome. Mileage is 8-9, but it should not be a problem for upper middle class person, as the purchase rate of this luxury car (22L) is really impressive. If someone wants to upgrade to luxury at a reasonable cost, it is the choice!"
"Enjoying the Comfort Every Day: I bought the MG Hector base model (Style variant) at the end of December, and after living with the car, I can confidently say that I am very happy with its comfort and ride quality. From day one, the Hector has felt like a proper family SUV that is designed to make everyday driving relaxed and stress-free. What impressed me immediately after purchase was the space and seating comfort. The cabin feels wide and airy, and long drives do not cause fatigue, even for rear passengers. Whether it is daily city commuting or weekend highway drives, the seats remain comfortable and the suspension absorbs bad roads extremely well. This ride quality is something I genuinely enjoy every time I drive the car, especially on uneven city roads and highways. In regular use since December, the ride comfort has been the biggest highlight. The car feels stable and planted at cruising speeds, and passengers appreciate how calmly it handles potholes and rough patches. It is clearly tuned for comfort rather than aggressive driving, which suits my driving style perfectly. I am not looking for sporty handling, and in that sense, the Hector delivers exactly what I expected. Overall, owning the MG Hector has been a pleasant experience, and I am truly enjoying the comfort, smooth ride quality, and spacious cabin it offers. For someone who values a relaxed driving experience and family comfort, the Hector has proven to be a satisfying choice."
"one of the greatest option in the market: Im driving my hector from 1 year not i really loved the car but the important thing mg should really launche a automatic diesal variant but something i feel the car have a low performance and the screen distract when i have a long rides and something the screen glitch but overall its one of the greatest option in Market if low mileage is not a thing for you you really should consider the car definitely"
"Fabulous Look: The car's bold stance commands attention instantly. Sculpted lines, muscular proportions, and a confident grille give it a premium road presence. Sleek LED lighting, alloy wheels, and a balanced silhouette blend toughness with elegance, making it look modern, powerful, and ready for both city streets and highways worldwide appeal today."
"Hector: After-sales service quality varies dramatically. Trained technicians are scarce at smaller outlets."
"MG Hector offers a comfortable, smooth, feature-rich ride ideal for families: The MG Hector buying experience is generally praised for its luxurious feel, massive touchscreen, abundant features (ADAS, i-SMART tech), spacious cabin, and excellent value for money, making it feel premium for the price. However, common drawbacks include poor city mileage (petrol), occasional infotainment lags (though improved), and concerns about long-term reliability (e.g., clutch issues) in some older models, though service experiences are often positive. Buyers love the road presence and comfort but should weigh the tech-heavy features against potential fuel economy and service concerns."
"Mg hector: It's an outstanding car in this price range but the mileage is little disappointing. Car's interior and exterior both really attractive so many features provided in this segment."
"When I drive it I love this car features and look: Awesome comfortable seats driving experience is very massive, commands are very helpful during driving the car and the car space is too large for rear seats and the boot space is very large to carry huge luggage and the camera is clear visible for the rear"
"Hector : he MG Hector is praised for its spacious, tech-loaded, and comfortable cabin, big touchscreen, premium feel, and features like ADAS, making it a strong value proposition for families seeking luxury and gadgetry over outright performance. Key drawbacks often cited are poor fuel efficiency, particularly the petrol engine, a soft suspension causing body roll, and occasional lag in the infotainment system. It's a stylish, feature-rich SUV ideal for comfortable cruising, but performance enthusiasts might find the engines sluggish, and some users report quality hiccups. Spacious & Comfortable: Roomy interiors, comfortable seats (especially 6-seater), good headroom/legroom, and plush materials"
"Hector: The turbo petrol engine has reported issues with premature wear. Oil consumption is higher than expected."
