6. Driving & Comfort
Driving & Comfort Assessment
City Driving
Instant torque delivery makes city driving effortless with zero lag. Turning radius of 5.2m is reasonable for urban maneuvers. Excellent ground clearance handles speed breakers and potholes with ease. Large footprint makes narrow lanes challenging, but visibility helps.
Highway Performance
169 bhp provides confident highway cruising with adequate overtaking power. Linear power delivery and regenerative braking make highway driving smooth and efficient.
Ride & Comfort
Torsion beam rear suspension handles most road imperfections adequately. High ground clearance gives confidence over rough patches and unpaved roads. Cabin noise is well-controlled at city speeds; some wind noise creeps in on highways. 350L boot space is adequate for weekend trips. Third-row seating is best for children; adults may find it cramped on long journeys.
7. Community Sentiment
Community verdict for Kia Carens Clavis EV: Sentiment is overwhelmingly positive. Owners frequently praise space & practicality, but express concern about gearbox & transmission.
Recent Owner Reviews
20 reviews"Carens Clavis EV: Clutch is very light with a vague biting point. Requires getting used to, and hill starts are nerve-wracking."
"Low Range, Low Battery Capacity: Very bad of Kia to have launched with highest range of 490 km and 51 KWH with it being a 7 seater family car meant for long trips, most of 5 seater ev vehicles provide higher range and battery capacity, not ideal for long family trips despite being a 7 seater, expected to have atleast 65 kWh or 75 kWh battery with range around 600 km"
"Carens Clavis EV: Diesel engine produces an audible clatter at idle and low speeds. It's more agricultural than refined."
"Budget friendly SUV: The Kia Carens EV is expected to be a strong and practical addition to India’s growing electric vehicle market, especially for families looking for space, comfort, and modern technology. Based on the design language of the current Carens, the EV version is likely to carry a familiar yet futuristic look, with subtle EV-specific elements like a closed grille, aerodynamic alloys, and distinctive lighting."
"Grab the entire market: Kia Caren’s clavis ev is one of the finest and refined car I’ve driven and I’m very much looking forward to own it 1. Build Quality you guys need to work 2. A bigger battery is must for the big machine, atleast 80kwh 3. Auto Apple/Android CarPlay 4. Second row ventilated seats, seats should be redesigned as the new Kia seltos 2026 5. Cooled box like previously featured Caren’s use to offer 6. Steering as new Kia seltos 2026 7. New aero wheel designs and a bulkier tyres as in wheels looks smaller on a big machine 8. Launch a Matt black colour 9. Increase the tech into the car, as per ev options in the market available offers ample of features and ready to cater for the buyers 10. If you people could consider and in the beginning of the 2026 production can get updates in the car, Kia is going to rule the market of ev"
"Excellent.: Best in the generation with top speed at 160 kms. And in 1 charge goes upto 500km. Best in the field . India's one and only its own made ev car in the sector with the best features. And the steering is so smooth and the maintainenanc cost is also goo all over a 7 seater car with affordable price best in the segment."
"Switching to Electric: A 1200 km Reality Check on the Kia Carens Clavis EV: I’ve had my Kia Carens Clavis EV for a little while now, clocking about 1,200 km, and here is my honest take. Coming from an ICE car, the immediate silence and instant torque are game-changers—it feels incredibly smooth and responsive in city traffic. Pros: The biggest plus is the refined cabin experience; it’s spacious and the ride quality is plush, especially with the battery weight grounding it. The running costs are negligible, and the fast charging speeds are quite competitive. I love the futuristic styling, especially the blanked-off grille which sets it apart. Cons: The real-world range is slightly lower than advertised, especially with heavy AC use; I typically get around 350-380 km, not the 420 km claimed. Also, the regenerative braking can be inconsistent at low speeds, making it a bit jerky sometimes in stop-and-go traffic. While the tech is great, the software occasionally feels laggy when switching between menus. Overall: It's an excellent family EV, offering great practicality and zero tailpipe emissions. While it has minor software and range quirks, the comfort and savings make it a highly recommendable package for anyone considering a transition to electric mobility."
"Nice car: Spacious car for a family. Already own the petrol version of the car. Nice range, build quality seems good. Smooth drive and nice pickup. Goosebumps on the pickup. Worth buying the car, must consider it."

"Safety feature is good : First big car and best stylish car only one of India This car all of best. This is a very happy family car, this is all cameras Safety feature is good lighting is the best, and the length and height are best."
"Overpriced car: Little overpriced. They can introduce a variant between HTK plus & HTX without ADAS, without panoramic sunroof, without wireless charging, without Beige & Navy leatherette seat. Because the price difference between HTK plus & HTX is 2.5 lakhs. So by deleting the above-mentioned features, the cost can be reduced."
"Cabin Utilization Quite Impressive: Have two clavis commercial licensed ev. Wonderful cabin utilization (low floor seats) and excellent silent drive compared to nexon ev, xuv 3xo ev, harrier ev. Among all those suv under this price range clavis ev is more stable in weight to space ratio and cost to satisfaction ratio 😅. Perfect for daily use."
"Most Practical 7 Seater Electric Vehicle: Comfort - 5/5 Design - 5/5 Fuel efficiency - 4/5 Driving experience - 4/5. A very practical and fun to drive car with 4 level regenerative braking levels, premium bose sound system, wireless charging and charging ports in both 2nd and 3rd row, very silent motor but the insulation can be improved as you can hear outside noise."
