6. Driving & Comfort
Driving & Comfort Assessment
City Driving
Manual gearbox requires more effort in heavy traffic, but offers good control. Turning radius of 5.2m is reasonable for urban maneuvers. Good ground clearance for everyday Indian road conditions.
Highway Performance
173 bhp provides confident highway cruising with adequate overtaking power. Strong diesel torque of 350 Nm makes highway driving relaxed, especially in higher gears.
Ride & Comfort
Torsion beam rear suspension handles most road imperfections adequately. Cabin noise is well-controlled at city speeds; some wind noise creeps in on highways. 350L boot space is adequate for weekend trips.
7. Community Sentiment
Community verdict for Jeep Compass 2017-2021: Sentiment is overwhelmingly positive. Owners frequently praise reliability & issues, but express concern about resale value.
Recent Owner Reviews
20 reviews"Best Car I Ever Drived: Best car I ever drove. Best car for all trains if you love off-roading."
"Very Good Car To Buy: Good and comfortable best car for a 4 members family and really comfortable for all kinds of trips if its adventures or city."
"Repeated Clutch Failure Not Covered Under Warranty: I bought the vehicle in 2018 April. Driven 35k km. Clutch changed twice not covered under warranty. Even Jeep accepts that their clutch is not durable. So if you are ready to pay for a clutch every 20000 km you can buy it. Another issue I had was fuel line leaks with 25000 km. Couldn't find a solution by Jeep. Changed entire assembly. Cost 1.6 lakh, fortunately under warranty. Battery life lost only for a year again with 15000 km. So it's going to be repeated problem giving vehicle and ready to spend a lot more money if you are buying Jeep compass."
"Very Good Car To Buy: Good and comfortable best car for a 4 members family and really comfortable for all kinds of trips if its adventures or city."
"Fully Loaded Car.: Awesome drive. My dream car. Take it where ever you want to go tough built. Dashing design."
"Unprofessional Service Centers But A Great Product: Worst after sales experience. My car has been in the workshop for over a month and may take more time."
"Battery Issue.: When I bought the Jeep Compass, I was told that the battery of the vehicle lasts for 3years. To my surprise, it lasted for 17 months only and Mopar gives a 1-year warranty only. I Never had this problem Earlier with my Honda City!"
"Worst Ever Service In Chennai Don't Buy This: Safety and comfort are good but because of the worst ever service in Chennai, don't go for this vehicle. They will cheat and make you pay for their mistakes. Worst and bad service in Chennai."
"Mopar Should Expand Their Business: Only one problem I faced i.e (service). Its costlier than their rivals and service station is only in limited cities."
"Not Worth It.: I will never suggest anyone spend their hard owned money on this product, there are many better products in the market with the same range. Trust me, its only about 14 months since I have purchased this vehicle Jeep Compass limited plus 2019 model, I am facing end number of problems such as battery issue, steering issue, in-cabin noise, moonroof noise, windshield defogging, driver side adjustable seat part, passive entry sensors, speedometer cluster sound, and way more things. After-sale service of the vehicle is worst Highly not recommended. This is not a paid review, anyone can come and drive my car and feel this awful experience."
"Worst BS6 Engine.: Worst bs6 engine. Total fail. I have a jeep compass diesel 4x4. The alternator failed in just 13000 km. Changed and now again showing the same error at 15000 km. You can't trust this car on the highway as this happens anytime. No point spending 29 lacs and suffer with it. Worst service experience."
"Compass 2017-2021: Resale value is uncertain due to limited market presence and awareness."
"Battery Issue.: When I bought the Jeep Compass, I was told that the battery of the vehicle lasts for 3years. To my surprise, it lasted for 17 months only and Mopar gives a 1-year warranty only. I Never had this problem Earlier with my Honda City!"

"Compass 2017-2021: Feature-to-price ratio doesn't match what competitors offer in the same segment."
"ABOUT THE XAR: Great car to drive, the premium car feels for the money paid. Mileage is decent and it all depends on how you treat the car."
"Excellent High Speed Stability: Great SUV with Excellent High-Speed stability and ride & handling control. Also SUV with more than satisfied mileage to its size."
"Low Quality Parts Used In The Car: In Dec'19 I had purchased Jeep Compass limited plus petrol version, within few months driving seat panel got out, given 3 time replacement but still same issue is there no improvement at all. At the time of 6 month free checkup they have not told there is any issue in the car but at the time of one year servicing, now they are saying there is issue in the battery which need to be replaced. unfortunately i gave car after completion of one year for servicing so they are saying you will not get the battery free, you have to pay for it. Don't know what kind of 3 year warranty they are telling us. Also, they told me there is an issue with ABS sensor which we will replace under warranty. Now my question is such type of issues are coming in just one year? What is the value of the brand? Don't know whether they are doing proper testing or not. Most noticeable thing is, almost all Jeep customers are facing same type of issue but still no proper solution support from Jeep instead they are asking money for the part nothing else."
