6. Driving & Comfort
Driving & Comfort Assessment
City Driving
Manual gearbox requires more effort in heavy traffic, but offers good control. Turning radius of 5.2m is reasonable for urban maneuvers. Good ground clearance for everyday Indian road conditions.
Highway Performance
The 103 bhp engine is sufficient for highway cruising but needs planning for quick overtakes.
Ride & Comfort
Torsion beam rear suspension handles most road imperfections adequately. Road and engine noise are noticeable, typical for this segment. 350L boot space is adequate for weekend trips.
7. Community Sentiment

Recent Owner Reviews
20 reviews"Best Car: I am writing this review of my Toyota Urban cruiser 2020 mid variant after driving it 15000 kilometres. As I have purchased this in lockdown so I have to wait for 4 months but the staff at Toyota was very very supportive and the delivery experience was very good except for the waiting period. Talking about the pros of the car 1). Urban cruiser has one of the most reliable 1.5-litre natural aspirated engines. This four-cylinder petrol engine is very refined. It feels good to drive in the city and cruise well on the highways. 2). Toyota is not known for good mileage but this Toyota urban cruiser has very good mileage. It gives 15 kmpl in city and 17 kmpl on highways even with this big petrol engine. 3). The best part about this car is that it provides all the necessary features like keyless entry, all power windows, premium looking drl with led headlights, all this right from its base variant. 4). Toyota gives 3 years or 1 lakh kilometre warranty on the urban cruiser whereas other cars have only 2 years warranty. Talking about the CONS: 1). This car doesn't come with any diesel option while another car gives a diesel option. 2). Urban cruiser should have features like sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless Android auto and apple car play at least in its top variant 3). Urban cruiser looks similar to Vitara Brezza that doesn't feel good being a Toyota owner. Overall it's a very good family car that doesn't feel heavy on your pocket. And its mid variant is the most value for money variant, you can definitely go for it."
"Best In Price: I have the lower variant of this car and its petrol engine and the pickup of the vehicle are mind-blowing in lower models, they provide LED headlights with a start-stop button so it makes the car perfect in price point."
"Value For Money SUV: Great experience, very comfortable and spacious. The most exciting part is the mileage and not only that you are also getting 4star safety."
"Poor Mileage: I'm using this vehicle for 6 months now. Very poor mileage. Getting only 9 or 10kmpl. Petrol consumption is also too much. But the company is claiming 16kmpl."
"Budgetable Car: Budgetable car and all features start with the base model, push-button start, automatic ac control, projector lights."
"Great Family Car: I got this car top variant automatic model in July 2021 and have driven more than 4000 Km so far mainly in and around the city. This car has 3mm more thickness than it Maruti's cousin. Pros - 1. Great car, great feel and ease in handling 2. Smooth driving 3. Very good road view 4. I have driven in the US for more than 12 years and this car is as good as cars in America. 5. Very good back support. My wife has spine issues and she is very comfortable as a passenger and as a driver. 6. Great car for the family. 7. Road presence. Cons - 1. I've got only mileage of around 10 Kmpl so far but I've driven around the city only so far. The dealer told me after 5,000 Km it will improve. 2. I am a 6 feet tall guy and the hand rest for my right hand is a bit low for me. 3. Space for keeping cellphones around the central panel could have been designed better. I cannot keep my iPhone 12 Pro comfortably anywhere around the gear. 4. I see a minor lag when I move to higher gears."
"Awesome Car: I purchased this car in the month of Aug 21 (Premium MT). To date, I got great experience during riding and maintaining. I drove 7000km and felt awesome every time on the road. It is a very comfortable car with a very silent engine. If you want to purchase this car then you must go ahead."
"Good Urban Use Car: This is a good car for urban use if you need to go from Point A to Point B. This car is not for car enthusiasts. More for office goers and once a week family use type. According to me: The pros are- 1) No vibration due to 4 cylinders. 2) Extremely refined/silent/smooth engine. 3) Good power since it's 1.5 L. 4) Very good brakes. 5) Very clear and broad view while driving. 6) AT transmission is very smooth. 7) Value for money, and also may offer good resale. 8) Very professional service by Toyota. 9) Looks like a proper SUV (good car stance and commanding position for the driver). 10) Very good control and steering response. 11) climbs easily on inclines. 12) Good space inside and boot. The cons are- 1) I have driven in Mumbai about 2000 km and the mileage is only 9kmpl. 2) You get only 2 airbags. 3) The odometer and touch screen look a bit outdated. 4) The way to change options on the odometer by turning the knobs given is very old-fashioned. Tips: Go for mid variant (High) which is value for money. You just need to add the reverse parking camera."
"Amazing car with no complaints. The service is good as well. I’ve used it for off-roading, and it performed excellently. It’s a great car at this price range safety is not compromised, and it’s very well built."
"Urban Cruiser Review: Good budget friendly family car for Long tours and City ride, have all beneficial features such as Cruise control,Back camera, fully foldable seats so that we can convert it into bed, alloys,Cold glove box and many more with good safety"
"Best Car In This Segment: Best car in this segment I own it and this is the supreme car for this price. It has great features and its performance is just amazing with the comfortable driving experience."
"Nice Car In Budget: Average mileage with good comfort in this car. Also, need to upgrade a few interior designs. The exterior is awesome. Overall good car."
"overall looks it?s ok in under 12-14L: overall looks it?s ok in under 12-14L , But mileage in city 10-11 in highway 13-15 , boot space ok for small family trips"
"Urban Cruiser Way Better Option: Urban Cruiser is a super SUV in the segment. Riding comfort is good. The mileage is good. Toyotas services better than Suzuki. It's a more stylish SUV than other SUVs"
"Looks & Comfort Are Amazing: The Toyota urban cruiser looks stylish and stunning. It also looks similar to a Vitara Brezza. It's also very comfortable and sitting comfort also very excellent with mileage also good enough for this category car. Its alloy wheel is also good-looking and attractive. It comes with DRL-led lights."
"Not A Value For Money Car: It's not a value-for-money car, think twice before investing 10 lakhs in this car. Engine Performance is like it takes time to come into motion. Escape yourself from being an unhappy buyer. :)"
"The car is very comfortable and smooth to drive. Although it is a bit costly to run, it performs exceptionally well on JK roads with a very smooth driving experience."
"Functioning Of The Car: Honestly, it's awesome! The car functions very well. Also, very comfortable. I should say that I am very satisfied."
"Not worth For Buying In This Price Segment: The car is good, but not that much comfortable as offered with the same cost segment much better cars are there. Not worthy as compared to other car segments."
"Urban Cruiser, The Pocket Rocket.: I really love this car. I'm driving this car and I personally experience that when I'm driving this car it's like very smooth and when I push more paddles it literally turns into a pocket rocket. It's also worth it to say "The Cruiser in the Highway, like The Cruise In the ocean"."
